Just a quick message to let you know that The World Building School is undergoing maintenance and I will get the site back up ASAP.
The main reason for the maintenance is that I hope to improve the site's loading speed but I'm also adding a World Building Store to the site. This store will provide a place where you can come and find great world building resources, tools and guides to help you with creating your own world.
It's going to launch with The World Building School's first product "The Photoshop Map Maker Action" which is a collection of Photoshop actions that will generate stunning maps for you. Please see the previous journal article for some examples:
I'll post another journal article up once the school is back online.
All the best,
Nathan
P.S. If you have any products that you think would be useful to people doing world building and would like to sell them on the store then please contact me on:

Cartographic Photoshop Actions - Making Maps EasyI've had a great time last night building another cartography action. So far I can randomly generate terrain with 4 clicks and a bit of painting white. Then I've created 2 style actions that produce different map styles with just 1 click.
The first style action creates a map similar to "Elfcarron" and "Stock 1" as seen below:
and the second action produces something similar to the "Ekko - Shariaku Island Stylised" map as seen below:
I want to develop a couple of other colour and style variations then the next step is to write a help file for each action. Once I have the help file written I'm considering bundling the actions together for people to use.
The brilliant thing I'm finding so far, especially with the random terrain generator, is that it takes most of the boring, repetitive generation out of creating your own map. Processes that I'd have to do every time a new map project is started can now be done in a couple of clicks.

Worlbuilding Store is getting an upgrade
Hello one and all,
Just a quick message to let you know that The Worldbuilding School has been running it's new theme and the response seems to be a positive one. We now have 3,000 visit the site every month and you can also subscribe by email here.
To follow on from The WBSchool update I'm now carrying out an upgrade to The WBStore. It'll probably have a similar theme to the new WBSchool however I'm putting in place a new eCommerce solution. One that will deal with digital products better than the current one and also I believe it will also allow vendors to sell on the store with their own login. Which is always a service I've dreamed the
Worldbuilding School new design coming
Just a quick announcement that The Worldbuilding School will be going offline for a short while in order to update the theme to the new design. Not sure exactly when this will happen but hope to get it done over the next week.
All the best,
Nate

The good news is the majority of the content is being streamed online through twitter and the Dday7 website.
Website:
dday7.channel4.com
Main Twitter Account: Dday7 (https://www.deviantart.com/dday7)
Main Hashtag: #dday7
I highly recommend keeping tabs on it for anyone interested in the human element of a large scale military operation.
